The goal
The main objective was to gain a deep understanding of user and market needs in order to redesign the tool for managing the lean construction process
Discover
We began with a session led by experts who explained the principles of the Lean construction process
Next, we created a mind map covering:
The phases of the Lean construction process
The people involved at each stage and their roles
The responsibilities associated with each role
ID interviews
We conducted ID interviews with users, each representing one of the following roles:
Site Manager
Production Manager
Quantity Surveyor
Architect
Project Manager
Personas and empathy maps
We created user personas and empathy maps for our key users
We defined:
Their roles and responsibilities
Their key needs and frustrations
The software and devices they use daily in their work
Defining problems and proposing solutions
After listing our observations of user painpoints and grouping them in categories we organized ideation sessions
Affinity Diagrams
The "How Might We" session
Group work - sketching solutions
Co-creation workshop with experts and users
Prototyping and testing
The next step was to prepare two versions of low-fi wireframes and conduct usability tests to determine the direction in which we would develop our tool.
The outcome of the tests was the selection of the concept, identification of its main pain points, and the start of work on its subsequent prototypes and tests.
